INFORMATION ABOUT BODRUM AND BITEZ: BODRUM: Bodrum (from Petronium), formerly Halicarnassus (Turkish: Halikarnas, Ancient Greek: Ἁλικαρνασσός ), is a Turkish port town in Muğla Province, in the southwestern Aegean Region of the country. It is located on the southern coast of Bodrum Peninsula, at a point that checks the entry into the Gulf of Gökova, and it faces the Greek island of Kos. Today, it is an international center of tourism and yachting. The city was called Halicarnassus of Caria in ancient times. The Mausoleum of Mausolus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, was here. Bodrum Castle, built by the Crusaders in the 15th century, overlooks the harbor and the International Marina. The castle grounds includes a Museum of Underwater Archeology and hosts several cultural festivals throughout the year.
Bodrum has a Mediterranean climate. A winter average of 19 °C (66 °F) and in the summer 40 °C (104 °F), with very sunny spells. Summers are hot and humid and winters are mild and mostly sunny. Famous people of Bodrum:
![]() BITEZ: Only 7 km. from Bodrum town, with a frequent minibus connection. Bitez is one of the favourite destinations of both watersports enthusiasts and those in pursuit of calm and tranquillity. Accomodations ranges from small family run guest houses to luxury hotels with facilities of international standard, all within a few paces of the sandy beaches. Bitez bay is pramier location for windsurfing and dinghy sailing instruction, with the open sea just beyond the experienced sailer. The shaded paths running through the mandarin growes between the sea and the village are another sorce of pleasure and interest, and vistors expect a warn wellcome in the village tea house. The village itself is a 15 minute walk, or short drive, inland and remains totally unspoiled by tourism.
